Week 15: Is it Really Over?

I'll admit that I'm a little sad that this is our last class together.  I have really enjoyed my Thursday evenings this semester.  To see all of the amazing work you have created makes me proud.  The other reason that I'm not very excited to reach the end of the semester is that I have to grade all those TaskStream narratives ;-)  However, I know that you will all do such a great job with them that there will be very little revision necessary, right?  Right?
Yesterday, I started at the first assignment and worked my way up.  That way, I was able to regrade any revisions.  I still have to finish Journals 6-10 and the PLN assignment.  You all still have to complete your iMovie PSAs, emerging tech checklists (Yes, you need the physical checklist!!), your short reflection in Attendance and Participation, Sybaloo Webmix of NETS narratives, and, alas, your final TaskStream narratives.  We will take a few minutes in class to go over the checklists and Symbaloo.  I hope we can embed the webmix into TaskStream!
The majority of class time tonight will be either completing/revising work, or writing your TaskStream narratives.  I will try to touch base with each of you to see if you have any questions about the narratives.  I realize that the majority of you are not really looking forward to writing these, but I expect that you have had enough support to complete the narratives without too much trouble. Before you leave this evening, I expect the blogs to be complete and the Symbaloo webmix to be on your blog and in TaskStream. We also have to discuss the course evaluations, which should have been mailed to your CSUSM email a week or so ago.  And, and, you will be leaving this class with some mad tech skill that no one can ever take away from you. . .So you got that goin' for you, which is nice!

Final Question:  What is the best thing that you will take away from this class?

  1. Although this class was very work intensive, just about every assignment that we completed taught me a skill that I can use on my own for personal use or for other classes. Diigo, Google Docs, Prezi, and Blogger are some of the things that I use most often.

  2. I think that entering into the world of twitter and google+ will be great resources in the classroom. I also think that just the overall skill that I've acquired in regards to technology has been amazing. Before this class, I was not tech savvy at all. But now I feel much more comfortable and will be more confident using technology in my classroom.

  3. I am taking away Diigo! I have been loving this tool! Last night I looked up stuff to do with students today at school and it was great to not have to pull up my email account in order to get access to the different websites! For me, this tool is so useful for everyday life!

  4. LOL at the pic =P

The best thing I will take away from this class is definitely Prezi. I used Prezi for another class presentation and it was such a nice break from powerpoint. Definitely planning on using Prezi for future presentations and more! :D

  5. I surprisingly use a lot of the sources that you have introduced us to and plan on using them more in the future such as Prezi, Diigo, and GoogleDocs.

  6. Prezi was an amazing tool that I will continue to use in other classes. I also like that I am familiar with a mac considering I have only ever used a PC. Thank you for making me a tech-savvy girl!

  7. The best thing that I will take away from this class is so hard to answer. I have learned so much in this past semester that I can use for future reference, and in my teaching career. This is not a typical college class that I hate coming to and am bored out of my mind about, but actually excited to be here. Two things I really really liked are Diigo and Prezi. These have been tools that I have already used this semester since using them. :) Going to miss this class.

  9. My memories... I love this class<3 Everything I have learned has been so much! I appreciate the access to Sybaloo since normally one must register and pay to use the site. Thank you for showing me Prezi, I have now used this for many of presentations in different classes. Diigo is amazing I don't know what I would do without these new valuable tech skills.

  10. There was so much that I will take from this class. I have gotten so involved it twitter, blogging and all sorts of social networking. I have loved Google docs and Prezi. We have used Prezi in so many of our other classrooms. This class has been such a learning experience and has been my favorite class this semester. Jeff you have been an awesome teacher and I will miss this Thursday night class:)

  11. Probably prezi and googleDocs. I already use them in all of my classes, especially for group presentations when we have to collaborate, googleDocs is so convenient, instead of having to send a million emails.

  14. I don't know if I could take away one "best" thing that I've gained from this class. All of the tools like twitter, prezi and diigo will be very useful in my teaching future. Also, I feel a lot more comfortable with technology.

  15. My professor's ambition and enthusiasm and willingness to teach new technologies. I absolutely look for educators who are passionate about what they do and care about their students on an individual level. In higher education there are not many professors who care and I am glad I found one that I can look up to and aspire to be like.
The best thing I am taking from his class is an example of an exceptional educator!

  16. A lot of knowledge since I learned a lot during this class. The prezi and Google docs were my hero. I do no longer need to meet with classmates during group project because of these technological tools. Definitely, the teacher's teaching style help a lot. I don't know what I am going to do without this class. I will remember for ever.

  17. I'm not sure if there's only one best thing that I can take from this class. There was a lot of tech stuff I learned. For instance the Prezi I already used in one class this semester for a presentation and everyone was amazed, all the embedding we did. Overall I feel more confident and I'm not scared to try a new computer program.

  18. As I remember my response to where I stood on the technology continuum at the beginning of the semester, I am excited to be excited about learning more! We have developed a foundation for future discoveries and developments and a more empowered outlook for embracing change and empowering our students to utilize these tools we have learned.

  19. There is a lot that I will take away from this class. I learned so many new things about online resources and technology in general that I had no idea existed..and I found myself pretty technologically savvy for the most part until I entered this class. I felt like I missed so much that could have helped me in my undergrad career... Glad I know now so I could incorporate it all into my future teaching career...

  20. That is a silly question, because the one thing I will take with me from this class is EVERYTHING!! I thought I was pretty technologically savvy before this class, but now with everything I've learned I am utterly amazed at technology and how much this class has improved my work smarter not harder routine! :)

  21. I dont think I can pick one thing. I have learned so many valuable tech tools, resources, as well as educational material that I know I will be using in the future. I do have to say that I have already utilized google docs, prezi, diigo, dropbox and many other little tidbits of tech tools outside of this class!

  22. There is no way I can chose only one thing I will take away from this class. I know how to edit videos, make a word search, I even looked on my email and have someone following me. I was so excited! I can only thank you for being such a great teacher. :)

  23. The best thing I will take away from this class is the relationships that I have made with all the girls and you of course. Also the face that I now know that I can build a blog. I think that knowing that there are so many resources that are free and fun to use are awesome. Thanks for everything.

  24. I will take away all the tools that I have learned and use them all in my classroom, even in my preschool classroom. The most valuable of all is my PLN. I will keep it fresh and updated. Thank you for all the work you have made me do and all the tools and programs you have taught me. Have a great winter break!
